At the forefront of Renewable Energy Projects in South Africa

Making a significant contribution to the South African economy.

G7 is a leader in the development and exploitation of renewable energy in Sub-Saharan Africa

G7 plays an active role in ensuring that 100% of Sub-Saharan Africa’s energy needs are met through the sustainable use of renewable energies by 2050.

Founded in 2008, a privately-owned energy company, G7 has always been at the forefront of South Africa’s renewable energy industry. We have championed the adoption and development of renewable technologies and pride ourselves on being pioneers in the formation of a vibrant industry that is making a significant contribution to the South African economy.

The G7 team anticipated the significant competition that would arise as a result of the South African government’s focus on renewable energies. G7 develops highly competitive, grid-connected wind farms, solar parks and hybrid projects using its extensive skills, experience and in-depth knowledge of the country’s resource and permitting environment.

Members of the G7 team possess the full range of skills and expertise necessary to successfully develop efficient and profitable projects in South Africa and on the continent. In addition, we have significant international experience in engineering and developing large-scale projects; specialist expertise in the operation and management of wind farms; as well as expert knowledge in wind mapping and atmospheric science.

G7 takes care of all the necessary steps required for the execution of any renewable energy project, starting from site identification, pre-feasibility studies, permitting right through to bidding, financial close preparation, construction supervision and operations. G7 has developed a portfolio of projects comprising more than 2GW at various stages of maturity, with ambitions to continue being at the cutting edge in future rounds of the REIPPPP and RMIPPPP.
