Rietkloof Wind Farm is situated near the town of Matjiesfontein in the Western Cape, at the border with the Northern Cape, along the R354 road that connects Matjiesfontein to Sutherland. The project consists of 32 wind turbines, and electricity will be evacuated through the Bon Espirange substation, which connects to the Komsberg Main Transmission Substation.
Originally developed by G7 Renewable Energies and later sold to Red Rocket, Rietkloof reached financial close on 24 February 2023 under bid window 5 of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).
The Rietkloof Wind Farm achieved its commercial operation date on April 23, 2025.
