Karreebosch Wind Farm, located in the Karoo region of South Africa, will be the first private wind farm in the region and one of the largest. Karreebosch Wind Farm was developed by G7 Renewable Energies (Pty) Ltd, a South African IPP based in Cape Town and founded in 2008.
G7 has developed several wind farm projects since its inception, namely Roggeveld, Brandvalley, Witberg, Klawer, and Rietkloof, as well as the groundbreaking Oya Hybrid Energy Project, which comprises Solar, Wind, and Storage, for the South African Risk Mitigation IPP Procurement Programme. Karreebosch will be the first Wind Farm that G7 will build, own and operate.
G7 Renewable Energies Pty Ltd, Cennergi Holdings Pty Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Exxaro Resources Limited) and Northam Platinum Holdings Limited announced the finalisation of a power purchase agreement for the 140MW Karreebosch Wind Farm in February 2025. The project will supply clean, renewable energy to Northam’s mining operations.
