The Brandvalley WEF is located near the town of Matjiesfontein in the Western and Northern Cape Provinces. The site can be accessed via the R354 that connects to the N1 between Matjiesfontein and Laingsburg. The R354 is the main arterial road providing access to the project area. There are a number of existing gravel roads providing access from the R354. The project consists of up to 58 wind turbines and electricity will be evacuated through the Bon Espirange substation which connects to the Komsberg Main Transmission Substation. Originally developed by G7 Renewable Energies and later sold to Red Rocket, Brandvalley reached financial close on 24 February 2023 under bid window 5 of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) and started construction in 2023.
