The Brandvalley Wind Energy Facility is located near the town of Matjiesfontein in the Western and Northern Cape Provinces. The site can be accessed via the R354 that connects to the N1 between Matjiesfontein and Laingsburg. The R354 is the main arterial road providing access to the project area. There are a number of existing gravel roads providing access from the R354. The project consists of 32 wind turbines and electricity will be evacuated through the Bon Espirange substation which connects to the Komsberg Main Transmission Substation.
Originally developed by G7 Renewable Energies, Brandvalley reached financial close on 24 February 2023 under bid window 5 of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).
The Brandvalley Wind Farm reached its Commercial Operations Date (COD) and began feeding power to the grid in April 2025, after completing turbine installations in August 2024.
