Roggeveld Wind Farm is a renewable energy project originally developed by G7 Renewable Energies, a South African independent power producer (IPP) and renewable energy developer.
Roggeveld is, to date, the wind farm with the lowest-ever electricity tariff to have achieved financial close in South Africa, thanks to many years of design fine-tuning and related optimisations by G7 Renewable Energies.
Roggeveld signed its Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) on 4th April 2018 and shortly after, reached Financial Close on 13 April 2018.
3 years after being awarded Preferred Bidder, the Roggeveld Wind Farm project was the first to sign its PPA amongst the 27 bid window winners of the South African Government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).
Originally developed by G7 Renewable Energies and later acquired by Red Rocket, the 147 MW Roggeveld Wind Farm is currently operational in the Karoo region of South Africa. It is one of Southern Africa’s most efficient wind facilities.
