We are delighted that two of G7 developed wind farm projects, Brandvalley and Rietkloof, reached legal close in Round 5 of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). On 10 November 2022, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) announced the signing of project agreements by DMRE Minister Gwede Mantashe for three wind projects owned by the Red Rocket Consortium. G7 Renewable Energies developed the 140 MW Brandvalley and 140 MW Rietkloof Wind Farm facilities between 2010 and 2021. Brandvalley and Rietkloof are two of three projects bid by Red Rocket that were awarded Preferred Bidder Status in the 5th bid window of the REIPPPP in October 2021.
G7 Renewable Energies CEO Kilian Hagemann said: “We congratulate Red Rocket Energy and its partners on achieving this major milestone, and we are proud of the G7 developed projects, Brandvalley and Rietkloof Wind Farms, which prove G7’s abilities to develop the most competitive wind farms on the subcontinent by optimising all siting and technical aspects”.
“We look forward to seeing the completion of these projects through the consortium led by Red Rocket. We are extremely proud to see many years of work come to fruition. We believe that like Roggeveld, the Brandvalley and Rietkloof projects will prove to be Southern Africa’s most efficient wind farms.”
