Heini Nel

Energy Project Manager

Heini Nel joined the G7 team as Energy Project Manager in 2023. He qualified as a mechanical engineer in 1988 from the University of Stellenbosch and holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business (1994).

From 2006, Heini worked as an energy industry professional – in corporate energy management consulting, services, and solutions with small, medium, and large, energy-intensive users, and multi-site commercial, industrial, and mining customers. For a period of 3 years before joining G7, he worked in the sub-national/provincial public sector, on renewable energy independent power producer procurement strategy, municipal programmes, and pioneering project management. The transaction advisory management components included multi-functional and multi-disciplinary aspects such as regulatory/legal, commercial/financial, engineering/technical, and other fields such as socio-economic development. Heini is also a Certified Public Private Partnership (PPP) practitioner CP3P.

Heini’s energy professional career is built on more than 15 years of business experience, including project and engineering management in multinational fast-moving consumer goods and international multi-site industrial products companies, business consulting with a Big Five multinational professional services firm, followed by business venturing and start-ups, including electronic business and commerce, industrial inspection technology, medical devices, and post-harvest treatment solutions.

Construction Director - Karreebosch Wind Farm

Gerald Francis brings over 20 years of experience in managing large-scale wind energy projects both in South Africa and internationally. Currently leading the Karreebosch Wind Farm build, Gerald will use his extensive expertise to ensure the successful execution of this critical renewable energy project, whilst sharing his decades of construction experience with the team.

With a strong background in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) management, Gerald is committed to maintaining the highest regulatory, quality, and safety standards. His hands-on approach, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills make him a trusted leader in the renewable energy sector. At G7 Renewable Energies, Gerald continues to drive operational excellence, ensuring the success of the Karreebosch Wind Farm and contributing to South Africa’s sustainable energy future.

Theuns Duvenhage

Theuns Duvenhage

Project Director - Karreebosch Wind Farm
As a professional with a master’s degree in electrical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in project management, Theuns specializes in renewable energy solutions and high-voltage infrastructure. He has in-depth experience in designing efficient and sustainable renewable energy systems, ensuring the reliability of HV substations, and optimizing electrical networks.

He has been involved in renewable energy projects since the second bid window of the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).

Project Administrator

Shannon van Jaarsveld joined G7 in 2023 as Project Administrator. Shannon is a detail-oriented administrator with experience in oil and gas projects and in the legal industry.

Alan Cargill

Project Scheduler: Karreebosch Wind Farm

Alan Cargill joined G7 in 2023, bringing over 30 years of experience in maintenance, operations, and development across oil, refining, and chemical industries. He supports the planning and scheduling of G7’s projects, applying his extensive technical expertise.
Alan holds a Bachelor’s Honours in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, is a Chartered Professional Engineer, and a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Dirk Uys

Dirk Uys

Health and Safety Manager – Karreebosch wind farm

Dirk Uys is an experienced Health and Safety professional with over 15 years in the construction, energy, and renewable sectors. He joined G7 Renewable Energies in 2024 as Health and Safety Manager for the G7 Karreebosch wind farm, currently under construction.

Over the course of his career, he has worked on several prominent renewable energy and large-scale infrastructure projects in South Africa and internationally.

(Recently, under his leadership, the Karreebosch Wind Farm team achieved a major milestone of 500,000 Lost Time Injury (LTI) free manhours.)

Ruan du Toit

Ruan du Toit

Construction Manager - Karreebosch Wind Farm

Ruan du Toit has more than nine years of experience in the construction, energy, and renewable sectors. He joined G7 Renewable Energies in 2024 as construction manager for the G7 Karreebosch wind farm.

Over the course of his career, he has worked on multiple projects in the IPP sector in South Africa and Namibia, ranging from 20MW to 150MW Projects, including the G7 developed Roggeveld Wind Farm. He specialises in substations and the turn-key construction thereof.

Yakupa Ndzuta

Social Performance Coordinator

Yakupa Ndzuta joined G7 Renewable Energies as Social Performance Co-Ordinator in 2025.

Yakupa has a solid background in Economic Development, project coordination and stakeholder engagement, and brings valuable experience from the renewable energy sector and community development programs. Her work in the renewable energy sector highlights her strong capabilities in data verification, ED reporting, contractor onboarding and coordinating audits for external stakeholders.

Elton Gordon

Elton Gordon

Economic Development Manager

Elton Gordon is the Economic Development Manager at G7 Renewable Energies. Elton commenced his career in the Western Cape Provincial Government in South Africa, where he held various positions for more than a decade, focusing on rural economic development and supporting SMMEs in the tourism and agriculture sectors.

Elton has several years of experience in the South African renewable energy sector under the REIPPP programme, taking on roles centred around Economic Development. His responsibilities included providing strategic direction and oversight to community development programs aimed at improving the livelihoods of residents in designated beneficiary towns. Elton has successfully managed numerous socio-economic and enterprise development programs in the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, and North West Province of South Africa. He holds a B.Tech Degree in Public Management.

 

Kobus Stadler

Kobus Stadler

Quality Control / Quality Assurance

Kobus has been part of G7 since its early years, initially serving as a Site Manager, where he specialised in wind measurement equipment installation, commissioning and maintenance, as well as community relations and met mast upkeep. His career began in 2001 with several international companies, before returning to South Africa in 2006. After working in contracting for a number of years, he joined G7 in 2015. He is currently supporting the Karreebosch Wind Farm in a Quality Controller and Quality Assurance capacity.

A long-standing farmer in the Karoo, Kobus brings deep local insight into the region’s landscape, social dynamics and community priorities. He was actively involved in local structures, including the ward committee, Community Policing Forum, Agricultural Association and Business Chambers. His strong community relationships and on-the-ground experience enhance G7’s ability to work respectfully and effectively within the region.
